Check out Drakeapedia

“Drake-apedia” – It’s not just a funny sounding word. Drakeapedia is a student-created wiki highlighting Drake’s rich history. Here you will find entries about campus buildings, notable faculty and alumni, various organizations and time-honored traditions. First developed as an FYS (first-year seminar) course in the fall of 2010, “Drakeapedia: Building a Living Archive,” this seminar was designed for students to learn more about Drake’s heritage by discovering resources in Cowles Library’s Special Collections, creating content using wiki technology, and capturing history by conducting oral histories. Take a look at what our students have created, and let us know what you think.

Find it at Cowles – Drake Biography Files

Cowles Library has long been the home of numerous biography files on a combination of Drake faculty, alumni, and administrators. In August 2010, Cowles Library began archiving these files for researchers, as well as preserving them for future generations.

The approximately 3,360 files in this project have now all been archived. Every name has a “biography sheet”, and many also have accompanying newspaper articles, campus announcements or memos, and photographs.
